Couples counselling agreement

The form below is the couples counselling agreement form for Atawhai Counselling and Supervision.

 Couples Counselling Agreement

This agreement outlines our shared commitment to the couples counselling process. It is designed to support clarity, safety, and a respectful therapeutic relationship.

We will be guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Commitment to Counselling

By entering into this agreement, partners and Atawhai Counselling and Supervision are committing to engaging in couples counselling in good faith. This counselling package includes:

Package A - $1345 (incl. GST)

One introductory couples session (50 minutes)

Two individual sessions (50 minutes each, one per partner)

Four couples sessions (80 minutes each)

Package B - $1615 (incl. GST)

One introductory couples session (50 minutes)

Two individual sessions (50 minutes each, one per partner)

Six couples sessions (80 minutes each)

This structure is intended to support a thorough and balanced therapeutic process for both individuals and the relationship.

Session Timeframe

All sessions are to be completed within three months of the introductory session, unless otherwise agreed upon together.

Payment

It is agreed that the total cost will be paid in fortnightly instalments over the course of the counselling process, until all sessions are completed.

Cancellations

A minimum of 36 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Cancellations with less than 36 hours’ notice will incur a partial charge

Non-attendance or late cancellations with minimal notice will incur the full session fee

Confidentiality

All information shared in counselling will be kept confidential by Atawhai Counselling and Supervision.

There are limits to confidentiality where there is disclosure of harm to yourself or others, or where there are legal or ethical obligations to share information. Where possible and appropriate, these limits will be discussed with you before any action is taken.

Individual Sessions and “No Secrets” Policy

As part of couples counselling, individual sessions may be included. Atawhai Counselling and Supervision operates under a “no secrets” policy within couples work.

This means that information shared in an individual session may be brought into a couples session if it is relevant to the therapeutic process. If either partner is unwilling for relevant information to be shared, couples counselling will be concluded, as this is not compatible with effective and ethical couples work.

Expectations During Sessions

It is agreed that all parties will:

·      Treat one another with respect

·      Arrive on time and be prepared to engage

·      Participate honestly and in good faith

Ending Counselling

It is anticipated that the agreed sessions will be completed within the three-month timeframe. If counselling needs to end earlier, this will be discussed together, with the intention of having a clear and respectful ending where possible.

In the event that counselling concludes prior to the completion of all agreed sessions, payment arrangements for the remaining sessions will be discussed and finalised in a fair and transparent way, reflecting the commitment made at the outset.

By submitting this form we agree to the couples counselling agreement
